As a kid I was amused by the play of words and images in the movie “Dumbo”, in particular the banter between the crows and Dumbo about the diamond ring and the question “Did you ever hear a diamond ring?” All visual.
Maybe one has to be a visual person rather than an aurally oriented one. I respond to a statement with “I see.” Never with “I hear what you’re saying” or “I hear you.”
The camera can’t do these without manipulation in the computer, too much work and the camera gets in the way. The pen/brush on paper is organic; there is no intermediate step(s) interfering. If one really wants to enjoy the total experience, finger painting is the absolute method. Why do you think kids love it?
