Super Commuter

With a burst of steam, this Penn Central commuter runs for the train. The NY Central and the Pennsylvania RR merged into the Penn Central with government guidance. It went bankrupt. This is now Metro North, fully electrified all the way to Millerton, NY.

The mid point at that time for the change over from diesel to electric for the trip into NYC was the North White Plains yard. Some of the Diesel engines sis have shoes that would fit under the third rail obviating the need to change engines.

About Vermont Woodchuck

Professional Photojournalist since 1969 with a BFA from SUNY Purchase 1979-Visual Arts. I despise advocacy news journalism. Every photojournalist should be prepared to show their camera RAW images of news events. Reason: RAW images cannot be altered no matter what is done to the finished product.
