Excursion Steam

New England Railway ran a steam excursion from Burlington to Middlebury and back over a weekend in September in 1998. The railroad crossing is just before the railroad bridge. I stood on the roadway bridge to make the photo of the grade crossing then turned to my right to get the bridge. The river falls are under the road and drop considerably.
Engine is the Susquehanna 142, a 2-8-2 configuration. The small drivers on the locomotive make it a freight engine. Passenger locomotives had larger drivers for speed.Ferrisburgh VT 02Little Chicago Road Ferrisburgh, Vermont 8/16/1998
