Vermont railway track workers replaced sectioned rail with welded rail between Burlington and Burlington. Here they are working just south of Tuppers Crossing heading toward Vergennes. The welded rail is on the left; the section rail in on the right with the plates joining it.
Usually welded rail is put down in anticipation of starting a passenger service in this case from Middlebury to Burlington.Tupper’s Crossing Ferrisburgh, Vermont 11/03/2006
