Putting down welded rail

Vermont railway track workers replaced sectioned rail with welded rail between Burlington and Burlington. Here they are working just south of Tuppers Crossing heading toward Vergennes. The welded rail is on the left; the section rail in on the right with the plates joining it.
Usually welded rail is put down in anticipation of starting a passenger service in this case from Middlebury to Burlington.Track crewsTupper’s Crossing Ferrisburgh, Vermont 11/03/2006

About Vermont Woodchuck

Professional Photojournalist since 1969 with a BFA from SUNY Purchase 1979-Visual Arts. I despise advocacy news journalism. Every photojournalist should be prepared to show their camera RAW images of news events. Reason: RAW images cannot be altered no matter what is done to the finished product.
