Camels Hump, one of the well known Green Mountain peaks is usually seen from the Lake Champlain side. It is easily seen traveling up Rte 7 from Charlotte and Shelburne. Here is a view taken from Ferrisburgh, out by Hawkins Slough.
Of interest is the location of Camels Hump. If one goes to the Burlington Airport and looks east, the mountain juts up just off the flight path. In 1944 a B-24 Army bomber crashed into the mountain. All that is left now is the wing. (Photos at this link)Hawkins Road, Ferrisburgh, Vermont 03/17/1998 Nikon F Nikkor 500mm f5.6 mirror lens Ektachrome 160
A view of the Hump not normally seen is one from Moretown on the eastern side of the Green Mountains. This is in the Mad River Valley area. Moretown Commons Road, Moretown Vermont 12/26/2007
