Heading to the yard

Giving someone directions in Spartanburg by telling them to take a turn after crossing the railroad tracks, will guarantee they’re lost. Spartan burg is called the Hub City for good reason; the Norfolk Southern and the CSX have yards here and you can’t drive in any direction for any distance without crossing mainline tracks, spurs or driving around yards.
Once this consist rounds this curve, there is a straight run into the Hayne yard.
A Google map look at the city will show the trackage in and around the city. With this there are a number of people who seem to believe that grade signals are party lights; vehicle-train accidents occur with some frequency with the usual outcome.

About Vermont Woodchuck

Professional Photojournalist since 1969 with a BFA from SUNY Purchase 1979-Visual Arts. I despise advocacy news journalism. Every photojournalist should be prepared to show their camera RAW images of news events. Reason: RAW images cannot be altered no matter what is done to the finished product.
